From a sixteenth Century tapestry, depicting the activities of aristocratic noble folk of the period, around 1500. All the figures are richly dressed; the lady on the left is playing a mandolin, while another nearby holds a parchment scroll. A couple are strolling in the garden, while others are picking fruit from the trees. The dark background, which serves as the base for the scene, is covered with flowers and trees. This style of dcor, known as the mille-fleurs (or thousand flowers) style, became very popular in the fifteenth century tapestries, possibly inspired by the custom of strewing the ground with cut flowers on fte days. This original tapestry is at the Museum of Art in Cleveland, Ohio. This beautiful tapestry is woven on a jacquard loom by skilled weavers, keeping alive the centuries old tradition of tapestry manufacturing from generation to generation. This tapestry is fully lined incorporating a sleeve along the top for hanging with a Hines hanging rod. Alternatively, this tapestry can be hung with a wooden batten which is a concealed method of hanging.
