From the the pattern designer, to the pattern stamper who transferred the pattern to the velvet, to the virtuoso embroiderer, to the finisher, to the pillow sewer; all hands contributing their talented touches in concert. The actual technique is called "three thread'" embroidery which refers to the stitch attaching the off white silky cord to the surface of the velvet. Unlike the couching embroidery technique where a cord is attached by a passing another thread over the it, in this "three thread" technique, the cord is sewn on from underneath so no stitch is visible. The cord virtually floats on the surface of the fabric. Owning this pillow is owning a beautiful embroidery artistic creation.
