Custom made large pair of luxury pillows (cushions) created from a rare vintage fabric by midcentury artist Edmund Bacci in an attractive abstract pattern, backed in new pure Irish linen, filled with new duck and down feather insert and a concealed zip. Italian artist Edmond Bacci (1913-1978) was born in Venice where he studied with Ettore Tito and Virgilio Guidi at the Accademia di Belle Arti. He has participated in the Venice Biennale many times and his work is on display within the prestigious Guggenheim Museum collections. His painting theme of cosmic genesis and destruction is expressed through swirling atmospheric color, predominately using the three primaries red, blue and yellow, parallel to the Modern era. Following WWII many artists found themselves designing for interior projects in a commercial way that they hadn’t before. These fabrics were still highly exclusive and in limited edition quantities at the time. Bacci designed this particular piece for the ‘Master Painters Collection’. Screen printed on a thick, soft, cotton sateen in rich neutral tones. From an Estate sale - the cloth exhibits some signs of age and slight fading, but is in great vintage condition and completely undamaged. To the right of the central panel is light brown and on the other half a darker shade, laid over this is detailed organic black and white pattern. Note the artist’s signature in handwritten letting featuring on the right hand side almost as if it were an artwork. We have enough fabric for a small batch but not every one will feature the logo. Would fit perfectly into a contemporary setting. The fabric has a beautiful soft sumptuous feel to the touch. It is backed in new 100% pure Irish linen, the aristocrat of textiles and certified by the Irish Linen Guild, lined in a layer of natural bamboo wadding, filled with new plush duck feather insert and a concealed zip. The traditional oatmeal color linen is a combination of the unbleached raw color of the natural flax plant on the weft intertwined with pristine white on the warp, resulting in an exquisite mottled effect. This bold, oversized cushion adds a dramatic statement piece to an interior whether contemporary or traditional, and would look fabulous paired with wooden or brown leather furniture. We only had a small amount of fabric but enough to make a matching set.
