The original seltzer bottles were first exhibited at the Paris International Exhibition in 1900 and, because of their high cost, became objects of sophistication and status among the wealthy upper class. These bottles, from the Museum Of Vancouver collection, have a variety of markings including Cross & Co, Thorpe Co, and Meikle Brothers from Vancouver, Victoria, Nanaimo, Nelson, Ladysmith and London.
