This item is a Maitland Smith Wood and Metal Tray Table. This high-end Hollywood Regency/Chinoiserie-style piece features an oversized removable wooden tray hand-painted with an exotic Asian-inspired scene of elephants, palms, and structures. The tray is framed by a decorative metal railing and rests upon a folding X-frame base designed to resemble patinated bamboo. You will notice in the photos sometimes The metal portions photograph gray and sometimes they photograph gold. This is wholly dependent on the lighting. In the evening if the indoor lights are on it's going to look more gold. In natural daylight it's going to look more gray except for the painting on the wood. That doesn't seem to change much either way. There's not enough information about this tray table to say exactly when it was made, but it is timeless and classy.
