A large early 19th century French cheese draining board, hand-crafted in France circa 1820. This solid pine board with a shallow rim along the edges was used to drain the whey from cheeses as they were processed. Featuring scrapes and markings from years of use, the gorgeous wood grain of the aged pine matches the beauty of the all over patina, including a small timber crack on the surface. There is no evidence of the top being attached to a base. This might be so the board could be easily cleaned after use. Be sure to view all the images to see the current condition and beauty of this well aged (at over 200 years old) cheese board.
