A beautiful pair of antique terracotta vases from Bologna, made from pale Galestro terracotta. The vases were hand-modeled without the aid of a "form" and partially developed using the colombina technique. The upper portion features a crown of simplified ovules, 19 ovules. The exterior of the vase's basin is decorated with 11 laurel leaves. The base, which is a single piece with the vase, is decorated with 24 laurel pods facing downwards. The neck of the base rests on a two-tiered, ornate quadrilateral measuring 24 x 24 cm. An unusual and beautiful pair of truly antique vases.
