Beautiful large hammered copper vessel. In various places on the container (around the center of the jug at its widest point, neck and base) can be seen a geometric, gold colored, zigzagging line. This is a seam where two pieces of copper have been brazed together. Often referred to as a 'dovetail' (more correctly a ‘cramped' or 'castellated' joint) this seam was a time-consuming hand process, and demonstrates a fair level of skill and craftsmanship. The handles are attached with large hand-hammered rivets, the rim of the mouth is rolled copper.
