It was the demarcation line separating Muslim West Beirut from Christian East Beirut along Damascus Street.Novembre’s thought focuses on nature’s unstoppable resilience, reborn from the ruins and horrors of war: "a flower will grow again above every human error" (Fabio Novembre). The series features tall, single-stem vases — four sculptural pieces made through the slip-casting technique in white clay, coated with semi-matte black glaze.Vase with two stems, hand-turned with white clay. The shape is made by two elements: on the base there is a little tray to contain water, while the upper part has two cylinders, with a different height.The glaze is applied in two different phases: during the first phase the surface is covered with a smooth black matt glaze, while during the second one, a tough glaze is applied with an airbrush to create the embossed effect.
