The Moa vase is part of the Austral collection and is the only glazed vase in the collection. Its peculiarity is that the semi-metallic glaze is applied to the vase still in its raw form and creates a special shade during the baking process. The Australe collection is a collection of about 10 vases all made of semi-refractory clay with natural colors, the clays are handmade by myself. The theme of the collection is the search for simple geometric shapes with a primitive appearance. The intent is to generate the same amazement that man may have felt in the early days of civilization in discovering the purity of geometric shapes.I created this effect in this Moa Vase to try to imagine the reactions of the first glazes where it was the same ash mixed with the raw clay, when melting during firing and remaining in the absence of oxygen, generated these special effects.Even the names of the Austral collection, such as Moa, Ba, Hu are derived from a simple and instinctive sounds as is the effect and the mood of the entire collection.
