Cross Originally designed by Bodil Kjær in the early 1960s, the Cross vases are made entirely of blown glass and are characterised by their unmistakable aesthetic, revealed by their name itself, shaped like a cross. When Bodil Kjær designed Cross between 1961 and 1962, she had a precise idea in mind: to create a vase that would provide support to the stems of flowers to highlight their beauty in a natural way. The characteristic cross shape does in fact bring focus to the individual flower or, when several vases are combined to form scenic interlocking compositions, a dense expanse of flowers. Today, Cassina reissues the Cross vases in three sizes, two of which maintain the original dimensions, using refined blown-glass handcraftsmanship. While the glass is blown inside the cast iron mould, the surface is hammered with a slightly different force each time, making each piece one-of-a-kind. This captivating interlocking mosaic features three hues selected by Bodil Kjær to enhance the colours of the flowers: extra-clear glass, apple green and aqua. Materials: coloured blown glass
