The first project born from this research was a series of funerary urns created for three families, each shaped by a song chosen by them. After this initial project, the investigation continued through the evolution of the algorithm and its passage into matter. This second stage is called Domino.Domino unfolds as a sequence of trial and error, a creative process where experimentation, accident, and intuition leave behind raw and beautiful pieces.Xavier Loránd was born in Veracruz, Mexico, in 1988. In 2007, he moved to London, where he discovered his passion for design after being selected as one of the finalists in Bombay Sapphire’s “Inspiring Creations” competition in the United Kingdom. Motivated by his growing interest in the discipline, he moved to Madrid in 2010 to study Product Design at the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED).In 2016, already based in Mexico City, he founded LORÁND with the purpose of exploring processes and concepts from a playful perspective, seeking to generate new discourses around the sublime as an aesthetic quality. Through his work, he has developed a design language centered on the user and on the emotional connection established between each person and each piece. He was also awarded the “Jóvenes Creadores Grant” by the National Fund for Culture and Arts, in the specialty of utilitarian object design.
