This gorgeous golden urn from Frederick & Nelson Dept. Store is not only a showpiece, but a piece of American Retail history. This circa early 1900s treasure may have been imported by Frederick & Nelson, as were many of the items sold at the department stores or it may have been made exclusively for the company, it remains a mystery. The brass urn features a minimalist style foo dog guarding the lid and similarly minimalist elephants for the handles. The original department store sticker is retained and can be found on the underside of the lid. The famed Frederick & Nelson company was a collection of department stores throughout the Northwestern United States with headquarters in Seattle, Washington. Founded in 1891 as a furniture store, a later expansion brought on the sale of other types of merchandise, including home décor. The company was acquired by Marshall Field & Company in 1929. HON
