Important original Baccarat lead crystal cut 'Arcole' vase produced in 1904 made to celebrate the Centenary of Napoleon becoming Emperor - and is part of the turn of the century French Neoclassical revival - This beautiful vase specifically celebrates and is named after Napoleon's first important victory (the Battle of the Bridge at Arcole-1796 - depicted in the famous paining of Napoleon leaping onto a bridge with a flag) -the vase is deeply cut with French imperial 'empire revival' images -swags of leaves and flaming braziers. The glass is quite thick and deeply cut all round -alas making good photography hard -in the last image we have inserted a large black card into the vase to help show the image.Nearly 100 years later this vase was reproduced by Baccarat in a super expensive limited edition of 100 (But this version was not cut - just gilded) -Baccarat only do a tiny number of such revivals and only do it for their finest and most important vases -This example offered here is not a reproduction - it is a rare original from 1904
