Large Antique Guatemalan Earthenware Pot C. Mid To Late 19th Century

Chairish

$875

A monumental hand-built Guatemalan earthenware vessel, late 1800s to early 1900s. This striking pot was crafted using traditional coiling and low-firing techniques, giving the surface a deeply variegated patina in tones of umber, charcoal, and ochre. The darkened, almost metallic sheen comes from primitive pit firing, where smoke and flame naturally kissed the clay — creating a one-of-a-kind surface finish. Features a beautifully rounded form, raised neck rim with incised banding, and integral loop handles on either side. Once used for storing water or grains, it now serves as a powerful sculptural object with timeless, organic presence. Styling Notes: Perfect for interior designers and collectors who appreciate authentic, wabi-sabi texture and scale. Stunning styled near a hearth, on a plinth, or as a floor vessel with dried branches or reeds. Pairs seamlessly with travertine, linen, and timeworn woods.
