Signed Delft art studio petite pottery vase. Of baluster form. Glazing is in a radiant & beautiful Red with gold iridescent undertones. Reflex Metallique by De Porceleyne Fles Delft. Delft is a town in Holland which has become synonymous with this type of pottery, where tin oxide is added to the glaze to create an opaque ground, initially done to imitate Chinese export porcelain in the 17th century. This vase was made at the Porceleyne Fles pottery which was founded in Delft in 1653 and this vase appears to have been made around 1870. Delftware is better known for its traditional blue and white pieces. This brick red vase is very rare and for the serious collector. Compare with a similar vase on 1st Dibs.
