The Saint Jacques takes the scallop shell as its formal point of departure, its fan of rising lines opening upward with a dynamism that belies the weight of the ceramic body. Hand-shaped in deep matte blue in Tuscany, in collaboration with Ceramiche Ceccarelli, a three-generation ceramic workshop whose archive moulds inform every piece. The matte blue glaze deepens in the recesses of the shell relief and lightens on the peaks, giving the surface a chromatic topography. Each piece shows the individual marks of the hand and the kiln, variations in glaze, surface texture, and form that cannot be standardised.
