A 1950s wallpaper was the unlikely source of inspiration for Nuove Forme's 'Tropical' vase, which features an extracted and reworked design and colour palette in a nod to the original piece that influenced it. Five hand painted shades of green, blue and yellow amalgamate on the ceramic vase's black background and are applied both before and after firing for a unique intensity, while a masking technique is used for the contours of the leaves. The result is an intense and lasting contrast.
