Vase 01

Vases 01 is a round vase made of gres.‎This vase’s name refers to the sense of balance that is implied by the disc’s position in relation to the other vase.‎ But it also strikes a balance between function and aesthetics, dynamism and tranquility, extrovert and introvert, and masculine toughness and feminine elegance.‎With Balancing Vases, Elise Maes sees a great dream come true, namely a design based on vases she made when aged sixteen that she could bring out on a large scale.‎ The name refers to the balance that the discus appears to seek, including its relation to the other vase.‎ But it is also a balancing act between function and pure object, playful and static, extrovert and introvert, rugged masculine and elegant feminine.‎ The Balancing Vases have something sculptural but are also functional and go together as objects in communication when they are together.‎
