1 Of 3 18th Century French Hand Colored George-Louis Leclerc Comte De Buffon Monkeys Copper Engravings Framed Antique - Mandrill Femelle

$430

FREE SHIPPING ANYWHERE IN THE CONTINENTAL US! This is a one in a series of 3 antique French copper engravings I am selling separately, while they last. They are by Georges-Louis Leclerc, Comte de Buffon (1702-88), a French naturalist, depicting playful monkeys in a natural setting. This one is titled 'Mandrill Femelle'. The intricate details and vibrant hues from 18th century hand coloring bring these fabulous creatures to life. The engraving plate measures 8 1/2" tall x 6 3/4" wide. They are beautifully and professionally double matted and displayed, under glass, in gilt wood frames with gold trim. Frames measure 19 1/4" tall x 17 1/4" wide. Ready to hang. Please note: The last photos shows tags that are attached to the verso of the other two engravings I have. This one does not bear that same tag, although it is clearly part of the series and all three were purchased together. These antique monkey engravings by Leclerc are getting harder and harder to come by.... Condition: Other than some light wear to the frame, this engraving is in very good condition! I do have more artwork for sale, including antique and vintage prints and portraits, so please be sure to check out the other items in my shop. Thanks for stopping by. If you like this item, I hope you will take a moment to browse through my shop, and check back often, for more fabulous finds!
