1796 Giovanni Battista Cipriani Set Of Temple Of Mars The Avenger Architectural Etchings - Set Of 3

Chairish

$995

A cohesive set of three late 18th-century Italian architectural engravings depicting the Temple of Mars the Avenger (Tempio di Marte Ultore) in Rome, comprising elevation, sectional view, and detailed studies. The plates are from Monumenti di Fabbriche Antiche estratti dai disegni dei più celebri autori, published in Rome in 1796 by Giovanni Battista Cipriani (1766–1839), a Roman antiquarian draftsman and engraver. The work reflects the neoclassical interest in measured documentation and reconstruction of ancient monuments. Each engraving is printed on handmade laid rag paper with visible plate impressions and bears a watermark (“AMG / SERAFINI”), consistent with Italian—likely Fabriano—papermaking of the period. Presented as a unified triptych and professionally framed with archival materials, including 8-ply museum matting, UV-protective acrylic glazing, and conservation mounting. Frame dimensions: 17.25 × 14.25 inches each Sight size: 9.5 × 7.5 inches
