Original hand-colored botanical print from an early edition of “English Botany”, the monumental work by James Sowerby that portrayed over 3000 plants native to the British Isles. Sowerby (1757-1822) was an English naturalist, artist, engraver and teacher. Shown on this detailed botanical engraving is the Touch-me-not Impatiens (Impatiens noli-me-tangere).
