This is an antique set of 4 French sculptural and architectural engravings that date to 1887. They were published in Paris as part of a series of 52 profusely illustrated individual documents depicting ornamental themed designs. We recently purchased a small selection from this series in Paris. This grouping showcases details of leaf designs from the acanthus plant that served as documentation for sculptural architectural ornaments. They are signed by the artist and are accompanied with descriptive documentation referencing the locations of the historical buildings throughout France where from which they come. Note the detailing of the scrolled "heading" on top of each engraving which enhances the design. This set of 4 make wonderful wall decor as a collection. Each engraving measures roughly 8 x 12 inches in size. Borders are clean with minor age indications at the far edges which can be matted out with framing.
