Cavaliere Giovanni Battista Piranesi (1720–1778) was a seminal Italian artist, architect, and archaeologist renowned for his dramatic, highly detailed etchings of Roman ruins and 18th-century Rome. Known as a master of Neoclassical perspective. This is an 18th Century copper engraving depicting two Neoclassical fireplace mantel designs/elevations. First published in Rome.
