Most assuredly, this composition was a special order from the Ward Shipping Line. Jacobsen was the most successful artist painting ship portraits for companies harbored in New York from the 1880s through the 1920s. condition: very good original condition including frame with a few minor losses to frame and a few minor spots of pinpointing showing under blacklight, but not visible under normal visual inspection.
