A rare original period antique First Edition Safari Style print after watercolor portrait of famous Field Marshal Archibald Percival Wavell (Major-General, 1st Earl Wavell, who fought during WWI & WWII), by Mortimer Menpes. Comes from a rare First Limited Edition book by Mortimer Menpes, published in London, England, in 1901. Signed in the print. Gold leaf top edge, original title page. Excellent condition - minor age wear on the white border, never framed. Mortimer Luddington Menpes (1855-1938), was an Australian-born artist, author, printmaker & illustrator. Menpes painted in oil and watercolour as well as being a prolific printmaker, producing over 700 etchings and drypoints during his career to great acclaim. This original period antique print, like all other prints after paintings of Mortimer Menpes created by Menpes himself.
