Chairish

$1,300

Date: 1905 Size: 13 x 18 inches Artist: Alphonse Mucha Alphonse Mucha was a Czech painter, illustrator, and icon of Art Nouveau, an artistic movement of the late 19th and early 20th century heavily inspired by the sinuous, dynamic forms of the natural world. In his work one can see the influences of architect and Art Nouveau peer Victor Horta, of past artists such as Paul Gaugin, and of the folk traditions of his native land. This illustration was originally part of Figures Decoratives ("Decorative Figures"), a milestone book published in France in 1905 which reproduced forty of Mucha's charcoal, pencil, and chalk drawings. The illustration is in good condition, with slight staining and creasing. See photos for more details.
