This is a pair of French theater-opera music hall program covers that date to the 1920s. They are fragile and VERY RARE! They are quite beautiful and detailed Art Deco designs by 2 leading illustrators of the time. Georges Villa was a painter, lithographer, poster artist who worked for prominent newspapers and magazines in the early 1900s. Pierre Brissaud was a well accomplished fashion illustrator who is best known for his pochoirs and illustrations for iconic names such are Lanvin and Worth. They both also designed theater programs during the 1920s. These images reflect the beauty and aesthetics given to this genre. Today, these works are highly collectible and, because they are small and so detailed, they are highly desirable by ephemera collectors. These two depict "love" themes which, of course, make them highly attractive. They are in excellent condition with strong color...no tears, rips, or stains.
