This gets the francophile in me all stirred up...the misty mood of a Parisian morning at the regal entrance to Le Pont Alexandre III, the most celebrated bridge in Paris, so subtly presented by the Artist, ("P"?) Charlet. Not (F) Franz, a prominent Belgian artist who died in 1926 and who also made an etching of the bridge (this one is far superior in my humble opinion). This one is dated 1925 and copyrighted, all of which information appears along the bottom of the image. The very large impression of the artwork itself, the image, measures 15 wide by 11 1/2 high. The overall size of the framed work is 30 1/4 by 23 1/4, the large size lending itself to significant "wall power." The frame is top, top quality, with what appears to be a silk mat with a colored and silver leafed mat inside it which accentuates both the frame and the overall blue color of the work. Magnifique! There is a great deal of foxing on the paper surrounding the image, but it's light and there's none within the image. If the future owner objects to this, another mat can be added to cover that foxing. Otherwise it can be thought of as emphasizing the.100 years of age of the print.
