1929 French Art Deco Femina Fashion Magazine Print, Matted

Chairish

$250

RARE find! This is an original French Art Deco magazine cover for French haute couture fashion magazine, Femina, that dates to 1929. Magazine cover art is highly susceptible to tears, rips, stains, folds, etc. and, with the passage of time, has become extremely difficult to find in A+ pristine condition. This image is in excellent superb condition. It is the original cover to the July 1929 edition of the summer edition of Femina, that featured fashion for the beach, the mountains and travel. This magazine had limited circulation and a limited audience. It was for the most chic fashion conscious woman of the time. Note the strong sculptured Art Deco styling of the profiles of the women, the touches of their makeup, and their cloche style hats! The cloche is a fitted, bell-shaped hat that was chic headwear popular from 1922-1933! This print is in excellent condition with strong color. Signed by the illustrator, Henry Weclawowicz (sometimes known as Wecla) in lower right side. Weclawowicz was a gifted and prolific artist who illustrated for leading fashion magazines in the late 1920s-1930s. This image measures 9.5 x 12.25 inches. Comes matted in a 16 x 20 inch neutral tone custom mat that is ready for a standard size frame. Please allow time for custom matting.
