The Smithsonian American Art Museum has an edition of this piece as part of their collection. Presented in a new cream mat. No frame. Image size: 16.5"H x 20"W. Ruth Chaney (American, 1908-1973) was born in Kansas City, Missouri. Her work has been shown in the New York MoMA, The Smithsonian, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art. She is best known for her participation in the subway art division of the Public Use of Arts Committee, where she invited union members to create art that would stand up to the harsh conditions of the subway system.
