This is a very RARE FIND! It is a 1937 fashion illustration by the iconic Man Ray. It originally appeared in a magazine of the time and is NOT a recent reproduction print NOR is it a later book edition copy. The lithograph features a hand colored solarized fashion illustration. It showcases a couture design by Jeanne Paquin with a feather boa in wonderful shades of color. It's avant garde surrealist 1930s photography. Man Ray is well known for his work in photograms which he called "rayographs", referencing himself by name. Man Ray is a world renown visual artist whose work in pioneering photography was revolutionary and groundbreaking in the early 20th century. The fashion design has a full draped train of fabric in shards of lavender, turquoise, rose and green color done over shades of gray to contrast with the stark white backless evening gown. 8 x 10.75 inches in size. Comes matted in a white 16 x 20 inch custom mat ready for a standard size frame. ( Please see companion Man Ray lithograph in our shop.
