Comes from a rare First Limited Edition folio published in Switzerland by Albert Skira in 1940s. Printed on one side of heavy paper. Numbered in the lower right corner. Very detailed. Colors are brilliant. Excellent condition - never framed. Overall 9.2"W x 11.75"H Image 6.25"W x 10.7"H Private Collection, Paris. Modigliani excelled in rendering ingenuous freshness of "average", men and women. He always sided instinctively with the common people; only among them, he felt, could be found the rich, deep humanity that gives life sense. Among them and among young people, of whom he made so many touching portraits. Never did Modigliani's refined and delicate craftsmanship show to better advantage than in this portrait of a boy of the streets.
