A beautifully framed original dry point print of famous lawyer Harrison Tweed created by lawyer Harris B. Steinberg. Harris B. Steinberg was a lawyer and an artist. This artwork was exhibited in the 1940's at The Association of the Bar of New York City. (see original exhibition label on backside.) Harrison Tweed was Harvard graduate and a lawyer who was President of the New York Bar Association and then Chairman of the American Bar Association. He also held many other notable positions in his career. Drypoint is a printmaking technique, not a drawing in the traditional sense, though it is often described as "drawing" on a plate. It is an intaglio method where an artist scratches an image onto a plate (typically copper or plastic) with a sharp needle, creating a "burr" (a rough edge) that catches ink to produce a rich, velvety line in the final print. Framed behind glass with a lovely gray mat. In its original gilt wood frame. Minor surface wear to the frame. We have not removed the print from the frame. It appears to be in very good condition with light foxing. Frame 14.75" H x 12" W Print 4.75" H x 3.5" W
