This handsome, Mid-Century Modern, Cubist pencil-pastel was created in the 1950s. This Mid-Century Modern artwork was created by the artist Record. Here the artist has captured the guitar and musical notes with their cubist interpretation in the pastel medium. A striped background was first freely applied with grey and coral pastel sticks, and then the center design was applied more solidly over this artistic background -- a straight-edge was undoubtedly used to keep the cubist style straight lines cleanly straight. Here the artist has assembled a collage-like-affect of musical instruments, sheet music and musical notes. We have no information on the artist "Record" at this time, although its quite evident that the artist was quite talented with his composition and execution of materials. Note: This piece has recently been reframed and the glazing is non-glare glass.
