$700

Black Madonna Antique Oil on Linen Passedoit Gallery Nyc Frederick Childs. Stretched/Unframed Frederick Robbins Childs, was a New York City post‐Impressionist painter. A graduate of Middlesex School and a member of the class of 1930 at Harvard University, his first job after college was as a reporter for The New York World. His interest in art prevailed, however, and he left journalism to study art in the US and abroad. He met his wife, the former Mary Alexandra Hitchcock, while they were studying painting at the studio of André L'Hote in Paris. During World War II, Mr. Childs served with the American Field Service in North Africa and with the United States infantry in Europe. After the war he had several one‐man shows at the Passedoit Gallery in Manhattan.
