A striking rare original period full-color print of painting "Passover Seder" by Israel artist Moshe Castel. Comes from a rare art folio printed in Switzerland in 1953. Printed on one side. Hand tipped-in on a board of heavy paper. Information regarding the original artwork in Hebrew, English and French will be found by lifting the piece. Excellent condition - very light tanning on the board, no damages, never framed. Overall 15"W x 11.05"H Image 9.85"W x 10.15"H Moshe Catel was born in Jerusalem in 1909 and was a member of an old Sephardi family. He received his first pictorial education in Bezalel, where he studied from 1921 to 1925. In 1927 he left Palestine and spent some time in Italy, afterwards settling in Paris,where he studied the foundations of modern and contemporary painting and more particularly the works of Vlaminck and Utrillo. He returned to Palestine in 1937. He was influenced by the art of Georges Rouault and Marc Chagall. Later he tried to paint in the styles of Picasso, Miro and Klee.
