1960 Armando De Stefano, "Three Figures" – Signed Artist Proof (E.a.)

Chairish

$1,150

Signed and dated 1960, "Three Figures" is an exceptional masterwork by the Neapolitan titan Armando De Stefano. This work was executed at the absolute zenith of De Stefano’s international career—the same year he was awarded the prestigious Presidency Prize (Premio della Presidenza del Consiglio) at the 1960 Venice Biennale. A five-time veteran of the Biennale, De Stefano was the driving force behind the "Gruppo Sud," and his work from this specific 1960-1961 period represents the highest-water mark for collectors of Italian Figurative Modernism. Designated as an E.A. (Épreuve d'Artiste), this impression is a rare Artist Proof pulled outside the regular numbered edition. It captures De Stefano’s shift toward a visceral, psychological Neo-Expressionism, utilizing a stark chiaroscuro that bridges the gap between Old Master discipline and post-war urgency. The sculptural weight of the figures and the forensic clarity of the lithographic line are hallmarks of his most critically acclaimed period. Condition Note: The work is in excellent archival condition. It is clearly signed and dated "60" by the artist in the lower right, with the "E.A." designation in the lower left. Housed in a professional modernist frame, it is retail-ready for a premier residential or executive collection.
