1960s Mid-Century Modern Geisha Wall Art By Hisashi Otsuka - Framed

Chairish

$120

This vintage framed Japanese Geisha features classic lines and colors representative of its era. Styled after contemporary Japanese artist, Hisashi Otsuka. The primary background color is a pale blush pink. The geisha's kimono is cornflower blue with rube red obi sash and pale mustard yellow detailing. Pale and dark pink chrysanthemum flowers adorn her kimono. She is holding a shishi dog mask, indicative of the woman performing the Shishimai or traditional Japanese lion dance, a performance art associated with good fortune and warding off evil spirits. The print was professionally framed with cornflower blue matte, glass black frame and low-glare gallery glass. Sourced from Sun City, Arizona, it reflects the enduring design sensibilities that define mid-century and vintage interiors. The piece is presented in original condition, with frame wear on frame sides consistent with age. Note that in the close-up image of the geisha's face, there is a small pale grey blemish under the glass, visible when viewing at 3 feet or less from the face of the art. Please review all photographs carefully, as they are considered part of the description. Additional details are always available upon request. Ideal for collectors or design-forward spaces seeking timeless appeal. From Sun City Revival — curated vintage and mid-century finds, rediscovered.
