This image is unique not just because of its scarcity and the fact that it's hand mounted with a drawn frame line and signature by Edmund Teske but also because of his choice of photo paper. Most of Teske's photographs from the period are printed on matte surfaces but this particular image is enlarged on glossy paper. It is mounted on textured paper measuring 15 x 22" while the print itself measures 7.25 x 10.5". Josephine was the wife of Robert Chuey an artist who she lived with in the Hollywood Hills. The herself was a poet and this image is one of many that she and her husband commissioned Teske to take. After their passing it was obtained through the Chuey Estate. This particular image is very ethereal with an astonishing lack of detail that leaves Josephine veiled in shadow.
