Bertram George Bruestle (1906 - 1968): An American born artist who spent the summer months outdoors in Connecticut and the winter months indoors visiting museums. Bruestle's father George was also an established artist which afforded Bertram the ability to learn from many of his father's friends in the Lyme Art Colony, including: Edward Rock, Robert Vonnoh, Louis Paul Dessar and others. The younger Bruestle went on to work at the Museum of Natural History and Yale University School of Medicine where he illustrated their medical journals. After his father passed away, he took over his studio, and turned to painting full time as well as being an active member and president of the Lyme Art Colony. Today his dynamic works are featured in many respected collections across the country where they attract critics and collectors alike.
