Advertisement for the 1966-67 American tour of "Half a Sixpence." After a Tony winning run on Broadway, the show went on tour starring Kallman. This is for the April - June 1967 production at the National Theatre in Washington DC. Designed by Hilary Knight (born 1926) the illustrator of the Eloise series of books and featuring the image of actor Dick Kallman. He got murdered. Exciting - see below. Richard Kallman (1933-1980) was a Broadway actor, appearing in several shows in the 50s and 60s. He starred in the NBC sitcom "Hank" during the 1965-66 television season and portrayed record producer Little Louie Groovy (a Phil Specter parody) in a 1966 episode of Batman. By the 70s he had quit acting and was selling antiques and art from his apartment. On Feb 22, 1980, he and his 26 year old partner Steven Szladek were murdered by robbers in their apartment. A fictionalized version of his life "Up With the Sun" by Thomas Mellon was published in 2023. This is not a poster but a screen print with offset lithography on thin cardboard.
