$585

Semiatin exhibited at The Brooklyn Museum, the Contemporary Arts Gallery, The Galerie Internationale in New York, Glass Gallery, and Ariel Gallery. His pieces can be found in the permanent collections of the Irish Jewish Museum, the Ted Turner private collection, and the William Clinton Library. Great piece by artist in top tier collections. Jacob Semiatin was an Irish/Jewish American artist who moved to New York as a child. He was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1915. In 1920, Semiatin’s Hungarian Jewish family immigrated to New York City, where he would live the rest of his life. During the 1930s and 1940s, Semiatin exhibited with the Brooklyn Society of Artists, alongside Gerard Schneider, Nicolas de Staël, and Jackson Pollock. After serving in World War II, he returned to New York and continued painting, moving away from the figurative towards abstraction. Beautiful abstract watercolor on paper by Jacob Semiatin.
