Jacob Semiatin was an Irish/Jewish American artist who moved to New York as a child. He was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1915. In 1920, Semiatin’s Hungarian Jewish family immigrated to New York City, where he would live the rest of his life. During the 1930s and 1940s, Semiatin exhibited with the Brooklyn Society of Artists, alongside Gerard Schneider, Nicolas de Staël, and Jackson Pollock.
