Born in the early 20th century, Ritchie studied at the renowned Heatherley School of Art and the Royal Academy Schools in London during the 1920s and 1930s. Her artistic training continued in Boston under Carl Nelson, an influential painter and teacher, further shaping her expressive style. In addition to her career as a painter, Ritchie was a dedicated educator. She taught Art and the History of Art for 15 years at Walnut Hill School in Natick, Massachusetts, nurturing generations of young artists. Following her retirement, she settled in Newport, Rhode Island, where she remained active in the local art community. Her work was exhibited widely, including a solo exhibition at the Norman Bird Sanctuary and two retrospectives at the Newport Art Museum and the Swinburne School.
