This is a fantastic Large Original Mixed Media Painting on Paper by Listed California Artist, Hendrik Grise (1914-1982). Grise was a prolific artist who was part of many of the major art movements of the mid-20th Century. He studied at the Chicago Art Institute and the Dallas Museum School of Art before coming to Southern California in the late 1940s, where he consistently exhibited his work. He was friends with several artists from the New York School, including Mark Tobey who was close to Jackson Pollock. The influences of his time are clear in his bright, fluid works. Bold fields of saturated crimson, orange, and yellow are balanced by dramatic black gestural forms and energetic passages of blue and violet, creating a striking composition with exceptional visual impact. The work showcases Grise's expressive use of color, layered mark-making, and dynamic movement while maintaining a strong, balanced composition..
