Chairish

$179

A delightful signed print by famed calligrapher and type designer Julian Waters. Waters lists dozens of delicious foods in a repeating alphabetical sequence to show off this particular typeset. Foods listed include champagne, flambe, daiquiris, enchiladas, zabaglione, escarole, lobster, kebabs, ravioli, mulligatawny, ales, sauerkraut, hazelnuts, and many more. When the list gets to the "Y"'s, a distinct "Yum" is playfully inserted to certainly express the artist's opinion of all of these wonderful foods. Julian Waters, born in 1957 in Hampshire, England, is a celebrated calligrapher, type designer, and educator. The son of renowned calligrapher Sheila Waters, Julian has carved out a distinguished career in lettering and design. He studied under the legendary Hermann Zapf and went on to teach at institutions such as Cooper Union and Sunderland University. Waters' work spans private-sector projects, including custom lettering for National Geographic and U.S. Postal Service stamps, as well as public commissions like the Women in Military Service for America Memorial. He has received multiple accolades for his craft, including awards from the Type Directors Club and the Art Directors Club. In addition to his design work, Waters has taught and inspired calligraphers worldwide, sharing his expertise in workshops and lectures across the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Asia. Hand signed and dated by the artist lower right. A delightful, unique piece for lovers of food, calligraphy, and lettering design.
