1988 “Silver Bracelet” Lithograph By R.c. Gorman

Chairish

$1,800

A 1988 lithograph, titled "Silver Bracelet," by the Navajo-American artist Rudolph Carl Gorman (1931-2005). This piece depicts a woman in an orange and purple dress sitting near a large black and white vase and a flowering cactus. Her shadow is cast against the wall behind her and she wears a silver bracelet on her wrist. Displayed in a wooden frame and mounted on beige fabric, this piece is signed and dated lower left, as well as marked “Presentation Proof” lower edge. The paper is embossed with the word “Houston” lower right. Born in Chinle, Arizona, Gorman grew up in a traditional Navajo hogan where he learned about his family's artistic lineage and inspired him to pursue art. After serving in the US Navy, he studied literature and art at Norther Arizona University and later went on to study at Mexico City College where he was inspired by the art of Diego Rivera. He had his first exhibition in 1963 and continued creating and exhibiting his art for 42 years.
