This is a special-edition facsimile of the Crimson Topaz Hummingbird or Topaza Pella (Plate 66), the Fiery Topaz Hummingbird or Topaza Pyra (Plate 67), and the Black-Capped or Trochilus Polytmus (Plate 98) from Volume II of A Monograph of the Trochilidae or Family of Humming-Birds by John Gould, originally published in 1861. This edition was printed by Hill House Publishers in 1990. Hill House was awarded the right to create the facsimile using the original works held by the library of London's Natural History Museum. Each print was made using the traditional process of plates, ensuring the accuracy of the copy, right down to the blemishes and spots on the originals. These are truly remarkable copies and are said to be indistinguishable from the originals when viewed behind glass.
