Original oil painting by Saugatuck, Michigan area artist -from the 1990’s. Believed to be a painting from his childhood home in Germany. Very pretty yellows and greens. Born into a family of European hoteliers, Polka received his early artistic training in Germany at a health spa run by his father. During World War II, the family was stranded in Germany. To pass the time, Polka began to paint with the spa's director (a summer painter) and later studied under a professional artist who had fled Berlin.
