About the Artist: Originally from the Midwest, Tim Saska (1935-2006) moved to California after finishing high school. In 1959 he graduated from San Jose State University, having earned his BFA. Two years later he received an MFA from Columbia University and in 1969 added an MA in Art History from Indiana University to his academic coup stick. After teaching for many years, in the early 1980's he chose to devote himself entirely to painting. Saska had shown his work with Harris Gallery for over twenty years. He was also represented by the Peterson-Cody Gallery in Santa Fe. His forte was large scale acrylic landscape paintings, often of Texas Hill County. His technique involves building brushstrokes onto a warm underpainting, imparting a luminosity of color that shimmers like outdoor light.
